History
GIAD was established in 1989 by 24 young businessmen, with the aim of providing a platform for the young business people to provide opportunities for knowing and meeting each other, to develop contemporary ideas and thus reflect the views of young business people on economic, social and political issues, to seek common interests of its members and to ensure better terms of cooperation among governmental and private organizations.
North Cyprus Young Businessmen’s Associaton (GIAD) is the main association of young business people in North Cyprus. As such, it is the largest dynamic network of business people in North Cyprus that aims at improving the economic and social performance of both Turkish Cypriots and the economics and trade of Northern Cyprus.
Every young business people and entrepreneur under 45 years of age is welcome to join GIAD.
Currently, GIAD has over 190 dynamic members representing almost all the sectors that are playing a significant role in the North Cyprus economy.
GIAD joins "YES for Europe" (European Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs) as a friend member with the objective of contributing North Cyprus for its integration with the European Community. In that context, GIAD aims to build a bridge for the North Cyprus enterpreneurs to face the new challenges presented by the changes taking place in Europe after the ratification of the Single European Act in July 1987; and thus to seek the ways of penetrating in to the giant EU market; despite emposed poltical and economical isolations. GIAD is also a full member of YES for Security.
GIAD also supports the objective of seeking for a solution to the Cyprus dispute on the grounds as set by the United Nations.
GIAD is a member to TUGIK (Turkish Young Businessmen’s Confederation) of Turkey.
